This riot occurred in Detroit, Michigan on the corner of 12th and Clairmount streets. This happened on July 23, 1967 and ended on July 27,1967. This event began a violent public disorder but turned into a civil disobedience. They were mad about the segregation and how the police were using brutality. The government reacted by sending in Army troops to try to calm down the crowd, but this did not work. 43 people died, some were shot, and some tried to stop the riot and ended up being killed. The lasting impact on the city of Detroit is that people now view each other differently. Blacks did not get along with whites back then and that could have been a reason why this had happened, other than they had the bar unlicensed and opened later than usual. The riot then out broke.
