The Holocaust
The topic that i chose is the Holocaust. I chose the holocaust because I wanted to learn more about what Hitler did to persecute the Jewish people. I also want to learn what they had to go through in Concentration Camps. This topic is interesting because this was a terrible thing to do to people. They forced the Jewish into Ghettos then killed and tortured them just because they were different. This topic relates to World War 2 because Hitler was the leader of Germany and he was involved in the War and the US knew that this was wrong. The most important thing that i learned was that there was many different kind of camps that the people went too. They included extermination camps, concentration camps, labor camps, prisoner-of-war camps, and transit camps.
The holocaust started in 1933 and lasted 12 years. The Nazis targeted Gypsies, homosexuals, Jehovah's Witnesses, and the disabled. Approximately 11 million people were killed in the Holocaust. The Holocaust wiped out nearly 2/3 of the Jewish population in Europe. Many German guards were put on trial because of their actions taken during the Holocaust. Jewish citizens had their citizenship taken away in Germany. Jewish people lost most, if not all of their rights taken away during the Holocaust. The Olympic games started in Berlin with the Jewish Holocaust going on still. The camps that they were put in were packed tight because of how many Jewish people were in Europe at the time. They killed the Jewish by putting them in Gas chambers and they even had to burn some of the bodies. The Holocaust was a very bad time in the world. Many Jewish people lost their lives and some even live with the memories of it today.
